Elementary Skate Races
Butte High Altitude Skating Center (34 Olympic Way) The ice heats up when the elementary aged students compete in a skate race at the Butte High Altitude Skating Center! The races are an ice skating competition among area elementary schools in which children are grouped by grade level. First, second, and third place trophies will be awarded to the top three schools. This meet is not limited to speedskaters. Any child who knows how to ice skate is welcome to enter, since the primary objective of the competition is to have fun. Pre-registration is greatly appreciated. |
Skijoring - CANCELLED
Skijor Butte (2900 Hansen Road, Butte, MT) Due to the lack of snow (and lack of snow in the upcoming forecast), we will not be able to hold the Skijor events this year during SNöFLINGA. Not having enough snow prevents us from having an appropriate and safe Skijor course. We do not want to put any racers (humans or equines) at risk for injury on an unsafe course. |

Fat Bike Fun Ride
Herman Gulch in Thompson Gulch (Directions: take Roosevelt Drive off of Highway 2. Follow Roosevelt Dr., taking a right at the Y. Roosevelt Dr. will dead end at a round dirt lot, this is the top of Herman Gulch) The ride will be 1hr-1.5hr long on snowmobile groomed trails. Trail and grooming conditions will be weather dependent. Please dress for cold weather. Riders will need to supply their own bikes. |

Free Shuttle to Homestake Lodge A free shuttle will offer rides from the High Altitude Skating Center to Homestake Lodge on Saturday to alleviate parking problems. Shuttle will make 1 trip throughout the day. Note that the shuttle is limited to 12 people each time slot, first come first serve with potential for multiple runs. Homestake Lodge will open their trails all day for open skiing!

Southwestern POLAR PLUNGE
The Original Mine Yard The Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, clubs, organization and schools to support local Special Olympics Montana athletes by jumping into frigid and icy waters in the dead of a Montana winter. All you have to do to participate is raise $125 by registering online here or by showing up that day with the funds raised. Plungers 18 and under only need to raise $50 to jump into the icy waters. Participation gets you a “cool” shirt and the more you fundraise the more “cool” stuff you earn. Funds raised at the Southwestern Polar Plunge will allow local Butte, Anaconda, Deer Lodge and Dillon athletes to afford to practice and compete all over the state. |
